32. Kitayama moon (Kitayama no tsuki)

Toyohara Sumiaki, a musician in the court of Emperor Go-Kashiwabara (reigned 1500-1525), met a pack of wolves as he was walking in the Kitayama moors, north of Kyoto. He charmed them with the sound of his wooden flute and escaped unharmed. (printed June 1886)
