20. Suzaku Gate moon (Suzakumon no tsuki)

The courtier Hakuga Sammi (Minamoto no Hiromasa, 913-980 AD) was an accomplished flute player. One evening he met a mysterious bearded foreigner at Suzaku Gate in Kyoto, and the two played duets together. Hiromasa's skill on the flute was legendary and the beauty of his playing is recounted in numerous tales. (printed February 1886)
